One day God gave me a deeper understanding of His word.
In Isaiah 55:11, He tells us:
So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: It shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Many of us have heard this verse and know that at its core, God is telling us that when He speaks a thing, it comes to pass. But let me take it a step further and share some deeper revelation.
When we think about what this verse says, I think back to some other things God has spoken.
He says “sanctify them through thy truth; thy word is truth”. So that tells us that any words going forth out of God’s mouth is truth. And then here is what he tells us about satan: “...He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” This emphasizes that what God speaks is truth and He desires that we receive the truth, that the things he agrees with, we agree with. And when we think about what society is speaking or what those around us are saying, this is a reminder that if not’s aligned with God’s word, His truth, we ought not to receive it.
Because if His word is life to our flesh and healing unto us, then that which is not is also causing us to not live in the abundant life of Christ. How many times have we traded what God said for what others had to say, their opinions – which are not truth? We could be experiencing so much more of God’s abundant life having accepted and believed the truth. Cling to what is true.
And then God tells us that His word shall not return void. It shall not return dead. God tells us that his word is living and alive. So not only is it true meaning that it cannot lie but it lives so that something is produced. And when we define the word “void”, it means to not be valid, not legally binding, to be completely empty. God is telling us that living, true word IS in fact legally binding and free of being empty. His word comes back FULL of something. It comes back WITH something. It comes back not just as a word but ACCOMPANIED by something. It accomplishes something, it produces a thing, a result, it manifests something. And we see this concept in Genesis when God said he commanded “let there be light”, and light appeared. God spoke and there was. This concept still applies today.
The fact that his word accomplishes a thing further emphasizes that his word prospers. Something that is prospering cannot be dead and it must be bringing about good things. To prosper means to flourish physically, to make successful. So God’s word makes us flourish physically, hence we see things become that once did not tangibly exist. His word produces physical fruit, physical results. It makes our lives successful, it makes our lives full of His glory, full of the things that He has spoken. It takes our lives which are void until He speaks and makes it full of living things. Hence in the beginning, the earth was without form, and He spoke and things became.
And at the very end of Isaiah 55:11, He tells us that it prospers in the thing WHERETO He sent it. Meaning God’s word has a direction, it has an expected end, an expected result. His word is specific for the destination, it is specific for the location. It has a specific thing to accomplish for a specific person, entity, or situation. So if God has spoken a thing, He had a very intentional purpose in doing so, it’s something specific He wants to manifest, to do, to produce in your life. And it reminds us to hold onto truth. Because the truth is a thing which lives and produces things, it manifests, it becomes a thing.
Lord I pray that everyone who has read and received your word which is truth is strengthened in believing your word. Let their faith increase as they have heard the word today. And resurrect words that you have spoken that they have sat down, that it lives and produces things specific to them. Help them to live alongside your word and walk in actions that agree with what you’ve spoken. Let them live out your word. And let the power in your words become alive in dead places in their lives today in Jesus name.
