Are You Becoming? Operating in God’s Power to Transform

When you look at your life, are you becoming or are you remaining the same? Are you becoming that version of yourself that God talks about?

Did you know that who you become is not just about having goals but it is based on your inventory of habits, mindset, consistency, your perspective of self and God, and routines? This sounds obvious but think of it this way -- who you don't become is also dependent upon these same things.

Something that has been so powerful and transformative for me lately is thinking about who I want to become and what that version of me is like. At the core of this concept, my mindset begins to shift and I start operating like the version of myself that I want to become. I start thinking what routines does this version of myself have? What thoughts do I entertain? What habits have I cultivated and where am I showing up consistently? What are the fruits of my consistency? How are these things helping me walk in the version of myself that God has taught me I would become?

I recently listened to two videos centered around becoming. One of the points that stuck with me is that those who are successful are consistent. This is absolutely true! I have found this firsthand in my fitness lifestyle over and over again. I have noticed that if you if you show up, choose to be consistent in new habits, and are willing to do what it takes to become a different version of yourself, the results do happen. The results do come! And they come because I choose to keep endeavoring to become. Notice I used present tense, meaning that you can continue to become even after having experienced results. And as I've continued showing up, God's power to become became activated. Those who become, become consistent, they become who God has destined, they function in the scope He has graced them for, and they become full of God's capacity to do and succeed in the earth, they become successful!!

Now let's delve in a little deeper. In the second video that I watched, one of the topics was the several expressions of God's power. One of these expressions of power, is the power to become. The foundation of this theme is found in John 1 and 12. In The Passion Translation, it reads, "But those who embraced him and took hold of his name, he gave authority to become the children of God."

Power is defined as delegated empowerment. Meaning we have been delegated to transform. When you are empowered, you change, you shift, you become. And to delegate means to send, authorize, or commission someone to do something as a representative. We are made in the image of God and becoming more like Christ. We are representatives of God's transformative power. He has given us authority to operate in this expression of power. But we have to engage it. Just like I gleaned from the video, we have access to this power but the question is are you engaging it, is it being expressed through you?

Let's look at some of the insights that tie into the theme; who are you becoming? :

1. The power to become is an expression of power that is responsible for growth, change, and transformation. The operation of this power is most visibly seen in the departments of salvation, transformation, having a sound mind, healing, and the manifestation of prophetic words. For instance, in the case of salvation, the power to become operates in causing someone to leave their own ways and take the life of Christ.

2. This is the same power that resurrected Jesus from the grave. The same power that caused 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread to become enough for 5000.

God tells us several times in His word that we are a new creation in Christ. Aside from the fact that God said it, so IT IS SO -- how are you a new creation without showing up and becoming?

The thing is -- is that becoming is a process. Becoming -- includes getting rid of mindset that doesn't align with where you're going, evaluating who's aligned with the person you're becoming, establishing a new perspective of yourself, creating routines so you can become consistent. Start becoming, start thinking like the person God made you to be, start creating, and walking as God's kingdom citizen, His representative, filled with His power.

Speak about yourself the way you want to be. Think about yourself the way you want to be. When you start operating like the new creation that God has made you to be you start walking in identity, you start walking in the newness that He speaks of, you stop walking in your "old self". And as we explored earlier, those who are successful, those who become successful are consistent so start consistently showing up in the version of yourself that God has spoken concerning you. Apart of my life's vision is to exercise daily with my spouse and also work with our children one day; so one of the ways I have engaged God's power to become is to actively live out the activities of that version of myself. I have become consistent in the gym because I made it a lifestyle. I changed my mindset on fitness. I changed my mind on how I showed up.

I have a vision in mind of the body that I want to become.

If you get nothing else from today's blog, I pray that God would ignite within you the vision of who you are to become, that you would take on a new attitude of mind (Eph 4:22-24), that you would become renewed in your mind and not conformed to the ways of this world, that your spirit would be stirred to walk in new habits, new patterns that encompass who you are to become, and I pray that the expression of God's power to become would increase in your life for his glory and the fulfillment of everything He's spoken over you in the name of Jesus! Amen
