The Believer's War: A Biblical Guide to Prayer for Leaders and Nations

As many of you know there are so many things happening in government, transportation, politics, and the world in general.

God has been revealing lots of things.

He has been bringing salvation to people across the world.

He has shifted our way of living since the pandemic.

He has caused people to go from being an employee to being an employer.

One thing I can see in the midst of these transitions and changes is that God is still bringing forth GOOD!!

And during this time, we should pray for the things and people that directly impact or play a part of life as we know it.

God says that there is no authority except from God and those who exist are ordained by God meaning even in places where wickedness is going forth, places where influence and power is abused – ordained here means that God has allowed it, not that He agrees with it. (Romans 13:1)

He says “therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for ALL men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. (1 Timothy 2:1-4) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

God is revealing the following prayer points:

  • That those in authority lead in such a way that it embodies godliness

  • That they may lead peaceable and quiet lives even on behalf of our nation

  • That the Holy Spirit who intercedes for us day and night would also intercede concerning their weaknesses as mankind

Some additional prayer points that God gave me are:

  • - Praying against tensions in the atmosphere

  • - That pride and ego would not lead decision

  • - That leaders would not answer with grievous words (Proverbs 15:1)

  • - Holy Spirit conviction in places where leaders make haste towards wicked decisions

  • - Releasing the blood of Jesus throughout the atmosphere, among our enemies, and over the plans of the enemy

  • - Planes, transportations, online systems, and vulnerabilities

Understand that releasing the blood of Jesus establishes our covenant with God, it neutralizes, it blots out, and it speaks on our behalf. And when we release the blood of Jesus over nations that are in high tensions with the US, over our leaders, over a situation – the blood releases the victory, blamelessness, and protection of God against anyone posed as an enemy against Him. It also speaks mercy and grace for those that it atones on behalf of. And God’s mercy stops us from getting something that we may have experienced in judgment. (Many times God allowed foreign nations to bring about destruction and death as a form of judgment on his people)

To take it a step further – we can act as a tool alongside the release of the blood of Jesus. We act as tools when we decree multiplied peace in the atmosphere. In scriptures, there are instances where God’s people spoke blessings and multiplied peace among those listening or receiving the message. So we too can decree multiplied peace among a space, people, or entity.

The peace is the shalom of God. And the shalom of God releases rest, harmony, reconciliation, wellbeing, quietness, safety, and health. God’s peace supersedes anything of the world, it preserves us, and it causes us to experience safety. We know this because God speaks about peace in the following:

  • - The Lord bless thee, and keep thee…The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)

  • - And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)

  • - Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you…

  • (John 14:27)

  • - Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. (2 Thessalonians 3:16)

  • - In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

  • (Psalm 4:8)

  • - Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it. (1 Peter 3:11)

And lastly, Holy Spirit conviction causes people to turn from wickedness, to repent, to get right with God. So it is my prayer that God would bring about Holy Spirit conviction upon those who are in authority concerning this nation and even those afar off who have decision making power and influence. It is only God who can turn man back to Him.

He says Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation. (2 Corinthians 7:9-10) And that it is by the fear of the Lord that men depart from evil. (Proverbs 16:6)

God calls the behavior of those who make haste to do evil, abominable. Those who make haste to do evil make haste to shed innocent blood and instead of resisting evil, they engage in it. (Proverbs 6:18 and Isaiah 59:7) And these are all things that can happen when pride amplifies tensions and results in grievous words that provoke anger and strife.

So in this time, ask Holy Spirit to give you prayer points for our nation.

This is the believer’s war.

Meaning our intercession is our war.

God bless you and may His multiplied peace go with you!

Love you,

Kay
