One of my favorite things to do during the holidays is watch movies. They are so nostalgic and are a fun way of building faith regarding your own future.
On the contrary, do you find your feed full of content that speaks opposite of what you believe about your life, relationships, yourself, your future?
The crazy thing is that the content we find funny or relatable sometimes sends a signal opposite of what we were expecting to the algorithm. How many times do we get an edge of seat story time about someone’s experience with colleagues eating their lunch or an off the chain dating experience? You’re thinking “oh this is good entertainment” and then before you know it, you’re getting videos about “get-back”, “how the dating pool has pee in it”, and all of the things LOL.
If you’re someone who is intentional about becoming better, having a healthy mindset, and standing on God’s truth over what society accepts as cultural norms, then you know sometimes you have to renew your mind so that you don’t begin to accept your circumstances as the end all, be all, operate from a place of discouragement or spite or become bitter. You know, all the things that start off as boo boo and giggles then becomes something that you start to agree is true.
This is a reminder to regularly renew your mind with what God says about you as a person, your gifts, your relationship with Him, and all the plans He has for your life. Doing so will refresh your perspective, the way you interact with others, and act as a tool in perpetuating your growth as a person. It will ultimately foster relationship with God and cultivate life in your heart, your spirit, and your mind. We have authority to train our mind and renew it. Are you training your mind to consume what you believe?
For instance if you’ve ever had a painful breakup with someone yet you still have faith that God has someone out there for you but you’re consuming videos that bash men/women, marriage, and love — what are you really teaching your mind to believe as true?
Take a moment to reflect on whether or not what you consume on social media is what you actually want to see happen in your life. Remember, God tells us that so as a man thinks so is he in Proverbs 23:7. This tells us that what we think on shapes our reality. Do you want to see what you’ve been thinking on?? If not — renew your mind and start thinking on things that God says are true concerning you. Go to Google and look up bible verses on “XYZ”; renew your mind and think on these things when you see content that says otherwise online.
I pray that from this day forward the Lord would continually renew your mind according to His truth and transform you. That you would experience the amazing life He has for you! Life is your portion. In Jesus name!
Thanks for coming to my life talk!
